MORE WATER SET TO BE TRUCKED INTO MURRURUNDI

Upper Hunter Council is set to increase water deliveries to Murrurundi. Already four tankers a day are travelling to the town from Glenbawn Dam near Scone – two to three more will be added. The carted water is supplementing Murrurundi’s emergency bore, and Pages River supply. Tenders have been called for the construction of a pipeline between the two towns, it’s expected to be completed next year. (VISION ONLY)

LABOR CANDIDATE FOR UPPER HUNTER MARTIN RUSH WITHDRAWS

Martin Rush has resigned as Labor’s candidate for the state seat of the Upper Hunter. It follows an assault allegation levelled against the Muswellbrook Mayor – which he’s categorically denied. The accusation was made in an anonymous letter, sent to Mr Rush’s political opponent Michael Johnsen. New South Wales police say inquiries were made into the matter, and no further action will be taken. A new Labor candidate is to be selected. (VISION ONLY)

MURRURUNDI DAM LEVEL DOWN TO 5% USABLE WATER

The ongoing drought is really start to bite people in the upper hunter town of Murrurundi. The town’s water supply is down to 5% usable water. If it is unable to use an emergency bore, installed in 2018, which supplies 70% of the town’s water, council is prepared to cart water from Scone. This will come at a cost of $1000 a day, which will maintain domestic supply. That cost of which will be shared by the NSW’s Government and Council’s Water Fund which is funded by rate payers.

MAN CHARGED OVER $80K FARM THEFTS

Police have charged a 57-year-old man in the upper Hunter following after a series of farm equipment thefts. Police seized a number of stolen items from a Merriwa property including an ATV farm buggy, water tanks and timber flooring. The total value of the stolen goods was around $80,000. The man was charged with numerous offences, including break, enter and steal, trespass and malicious damage. He was refused bail and will face Wyong Local Court on Thursday.

DOORS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AT THE DEVIL ARK

The Devil Ark has opened its doors to visitors for the first time ever, enabling the public to come face-to-face with one of Australia’s most iconic critters. For the next month, people will be able to see the tasmanian devil conservation project in the Barrington Tops, up close. The Ark will open from 10am to 2pm each day. (AUDIO IN PARTS)

PILOT INJURED IN FORCED LANDING AT ABERDEEN

The pilot of a light aircraft has been rushed to hospital, following a forced landing in the Upper Hunter. Bystanders pulled the 78-year-old man from his plane, after it crash-landed in a paddock at Aberdeen, just after 8 o’clock on Saturday night. Paramedics, alongside the Westpac Rescue Helicopter’s Critical Care Medical Team, stabalised the man, who suffered multiple injuries. He was flown to Newcastle’s John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition. The Australian Transport Safety Bureau will investigate the incident.
