POLICE APPEAL FOR HELP TO LOCATE UTE INVOLVED IN SUSPECTED MURDER

Police are appealing for public assistance to help find a ute believed to be linked with the suspected murder of New England man, Darren Royce Willis. Mr Willis was last seen leaving a hotel on Maitland Street, Bingara on the evening of Friday 10 December 2010. Investigations have identified a 1980 model XD Ford Falcon ute that may contain significant forensic evidence. Police wish to speak to two men who purchased the ute in Bingara in 2011. Images of the ute have now been released (below). It is believed the ute is not registered, and may be located interstate, possibly in Queensland. BUSINESS CHAMBER CANCELS CANDIDATES FORUM AFTER JOYCE BACKS OUT

The Tamworth Business Chamber has been forced to cancel its upcoming ‘meet the candidates’ forum, ahead of the New England by-election. The event was due to take place in Town Hall next Monday night, but president Jye Segboer says only a handful of candidates expressed their interest in the event. He also said interest from the general public dropped off considerably, after it was confirmed Barnaby Joyce would not be taking part. (VISION ONLY)

BARNABY BACKS OUT OF CANDIDATE FORUMS

It’s been confirmed Barnaby Joyce won’t be participating in any candidate forums, ahead of the upcoming New England by-election. The National Party says it’s due to the large number of candidates that don’t live in the electorate… and that Mr Joyce would rather spend the time chatting to voters, than listening to ‘out-of-towners’. FIREARMS AND DRUGS SEIZED DURING STRIKE FORCE BURRIL

Established to investigate the alleged manufacture and supply of prohibited drugs, Strike Force Burril has yielded drugs, firearms and chemicals in the State’s New England region since May this year. The strike force has resulted in numerous charges being laid, including: – A 44-year-old man being charged with manufacturing a prohibited drug in a commercial quantity after a search warrant was executed at a house on Arnold Street in Spring Ridge just before 1pm on Wednesday. – A 23-year-old man charged with a number of offences, including possessing a shortened firearm, and possessing an unauthorised prohibited firearm, after police allegedly located five firearms and ammunition during a search of a property on Brewongle Road, Quirindi. – A 51-year-old charged with numerous drug and firearm offences after police allegedly seized revolvers, a shotgun, a hand grenade, ammunition, railway detonators and cannabis …
