The state government has declared three local government areas natural disaster zones, as the Macleay River fire continues to burn out of control
The fire, which ignited two weeks ago, has spread across Armidale, Walcha, and Kempsey, joining blazes at Freds Creek and Georges Junction.
It’s destroyed up to 51,000 hectares of National Park, State Forest and private land.
The declaration means extra assistance can be poured into fighting the inferno.
