Just over two months since the death of Newcastle surfing legend Steve Butterworth, his friends and family today paid tribute at Nobbys Beach.
His son, Blade, with a floating floral wreath, led almost a hunderd surfers for a paddle out as a final farewell.
Mr Butterworth achieved numerous shortboard and longboard titles over his career.
He died, aged 60, after a battle with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
