CLAWS AND PAWS PUSH FOR BAN ON GREYHOUND EXPORTS

An animal welfare group on the Central Coast is pushing ahead with a campaign to ban the export of racing greyhounds.

Instead, it wants more of the ex-racers re-homed, and held an open day to spread the message.

  1. Thanks to the Inquiry, we now know that up to 94% of the mass puppy farmed racing greyhounds are dead by 42 months.
    It’s not enough to just ban Australian dogs being exported to their ultimate death overseas. The dog racing industry is reliant on over breeding it’s ‘product’ for its gambling profit and needs to be eradicated for this inherent cruelty.

  3. Minister for cruelty, Barnaby Joyce, allows this vile export to China despite knowing their fate is doomed.

  4. Australian dogs get exported to death in NZ too. Only 26% (of 250-300 dogs per year) that arrive here from Australian find adoptive homes.

    Added to that its Australian punters keeping this pointless cruel industry going in NZ.

    Come on Australia! you’re better than this!

  5. Australian greyhounds cannot be exported to China as racing greyhounds – they have to be deregistered first and exported as a pet. The only authority that can close this loophole is the Federal Government.
