The New South Wales Planning Department has approved an application for the extension of the Mount Thorley, Warkworth Mine.
The Department has recommended tighter noise and dust limits on the Rio Tinto proposal, along with additional cultural heritage requirements and remediation measures.
A final decision on the controversial proposal, close to the Upper Hunter village of Bulga now rests with the Planning Assessment Commission.
