Police say a man who was killed in a car crash this morning was earlier involved in a break and enter, at Smiths Lakes south of Foster on the mid north coast.
It’s alleged the stolen Mazda 3 sped off after being spotted by police along Possum Brush Road near Taree, crashing into a tree.
The male driver, who was the only occupant of the car died a short time later.
A critical incident team is investigating – police say the car was not being pursued at the time of the crash.
