A crowd of thousands descended on Coffs Harbour Jetty Beach to enjoy the 9.30pm fireworks display.
With perfect weather leading into the night, it was one of the biggest gatherings of revellers the city has ever seen.
With midnight fireworks at the Hoey Moey canned at the last minute, it was the only chance to catch a skyward glance of the infamous light display.
