LOCAL BUS DRIVERS TAKE INDUSTRIAL ACTION

Central Coast commuters can travel for free on some buses this Monday, as drivers take industrial action. Members of the Transport Workers Union from the Wyong and Gosford depots say Opal card services will be switched off, as they push for a “fairer enterprise agreement” with Busways. Drivers on the Central Coast and in Sydney are fighting for better pay and super-annuation benefits.   (VISION ONLY)

LIGHTNING CAUSED FIRE ON LION ISLAND

A lightning strike is thought to be the cause of a sudden blaze which tore through bushland on Lion Island off the Central Coast. More than 20 fire crews fought to bring the fire under control overnight, with the help of the National Parks and Wildlife Service. There were fears for the safety of a nesting colony of Little Penguins. The RFS will carry out hazard reduction burns at the site at a later date.   (VISION ONLY)
