Central Coast commuters can travel for free on some buses this Monday, as drivers take industrial action. Members of the Transport Workers Union from the Wyong and Gosford depots say Opal card services will be switched off, as they push for a “fairer enterprise agreement” with Busways. Drivers on the Central Coast and in Sydney are fighting for better pay and super-annuation benefits.   (VISION ONLY)

Firefighters say when it comes to devising a bushfire survival plan, there’s no time like the present. The fire danger period begins tomorrow on the Central Coast – unseasonably dry conditions bringing it forward by a month.

After weeks of controversy, Central Coast Council is now actively investigating the presence of suspected asbestos at Wamberal Beach. Politicians are calling for quick and effective management of the issue, concerned locals will be exposed.  

It all started thanks to a Central Coast electrician with a big heart. Ryan Wilson wanted to set aside one day a year, to do electrical work for free for those who really need it – and now his idea has become an annual event.  

Central Coast residents are being urged to have their say on just how tall buildings can be in the Gosford City Centre. It comes amid concerns some developers have free reign when it comes to the height of buildings.

A lightning strike is thought to be the cause of a sudden blaze which tore through bushland on Lion Island off the Central Coast. More than 20 fire crews fought to bring the fire under control overnight, with the help of the National Parks and Wildlife Service. There were fears for the safety of a nesting colony of Little Penguins. The RFS will carry out hazard reduction burns at the site at a later date.   (VISION ONLY)

A 30 million dollar re-development of Woy Woy Sporties will not be going ahead. The Joint Regional Planning Panel last night unanimously voting down the Development Application for 63 units on the bowling club site.

Some of the Central Coast’s most popular fishing spots could soon be off-limits to locals, if the state government gets its way. Its plans for a Newcastle-to-Wollongong Marine Park have some residents up in arms.  

Wamberal residents are once again fired up over the removal of asbestos from the beach. While the continuing discovery of hazardous materials is attracting criticism, Central Coast Council says there’s more than one issue at play.

Despite big swells, we’re being assured that emergency dredging in the Ettalong Channel will be completed on schedule. It comes as a big relief to local business owners, who’ve been suffering since the Palm Beach ferry service was cancelled.
