WORLD LEADING RIDERS TO SADDLE-UP AT TAMWORTH INTERNATIONAL EVENTING

Some of the world’s leading eventing riders are expected to feature in the region over the next three days as the Tamworth International Eventing begins. The likes of Olympian Heath Ryan will be arriving in town as well as New Zealand representative Laura Wallace. Riders competing across dressage, show jumping and cross country disciplines. BLANCH TO TAKE ON A SECOND YEAR AS BEARS COACH

Scott Blanch has committed to coach the North Tamworth Bears again in 2019. The side’s captain-coach says he wanted to get the decision out of the way, before the team heads into the Group 4 final rounds. “I thought, you can’t just do one year, you’ve sort of got to carry on and do a couple, so obviously this year there’s been some challenges but next year I think there’ll be equally as many.” The Bears currently sit second on the ladder, ahead of this weekend’s qualifying final against the Gunnedah Bulldogs. RECORD NUMBERS AT 5TH ANNUAL INDOOR SPORTS DAY

More than 100 people have packed the Tamworth Sports Dome for the annual Indoor Sports Day. Now in its fifth year, the event is adding more and more fun activities to its line up. This year, the ever-popular Nerf Gun target shooting made a comeback. “Our focus is about everyone having fun. In fact, one of our trophies this afternoon is an award specifically for the person who has the most fun, the most participation and gets the most enjoyment out of today,”  Ada Maughan, Regional Manager, Sunnyfield DisAbility Services.
