TWO PORT MACQUARIE TRAINED HORSES LINE UP FOR THE KOSCIUSZKO

Five months after he last raced, Port Macquarie-trained Victorem is the favourite for the $1.3-million Kosciusko at Royal Randwick on Saturday. The four-year-old gelding will be ridden by Ben Looker, jumping from barrier four on Everest Day. 2019 FOOTBALL MID NORTH COAST PREMIER LEAGUE DROPS TO EIGHT CLUBS

With next year’s premier league restricted to eight clubs, the Football Mid North Coast board is considering playing a three-round competition. That will include some mid-week local derby matches under lights, involving Forster-Tuncurry, Port Macquarie or Kempsey. The premier league has previously been run over two rounds, with 18 games. This year’s wooden spooners Wauchope are being dropped from the 20-19 premier league and will play in the Northern League instead.

CHAMPIONS OF CHAMPIONS PLAY IN COFFS HARBOUR

450 footballers from Northern New South Wales are taking part in the first ever Champion of Champions tournament this week in Coffs Harbour. A total of 28 teams, ranging in age from 12 to 16, have signed up. Coffs Harbour’s own Northern Storm had a great start to the competition this morning – their 12s and 13s thrashing New Lambton and Tuncurry Forster. “this is our inaugural season of the Champions of Champions, basically an opportunity for the community of football clubs to get together and play against the opposition that they probably haven’t played against before.” The tournament, which is played in round robin format, finishes up this coming Thursday.
