MILLAR LEAVES MARINERS FOR RIVALS JETS

An explosive situation is developing at the Central Coast Mariners, with breakout star Matt Millar sent home from training, after the club learned he’s signed a two-year deal with fierce rivals, the Newcastle Jets. Management only learned of the deal after they sat down to offer him an extension, with his current contract expiring at the end of the season. It’s understood the Players Union has been engaged, and it could get messy.

It’s a big weekend ahead for Central Coast cricket. Saturday marks the final round of one day matches, with six teams still in the running to claim a spot in the Grand Final. ANTONY GOLEC GONE AFTER MUTUAL SPLIT

The Mariners have announced they’ve parted ways with defender Antony Golec, with club and player agreeing to a mutual termination of his contract. The 28-year-old came to the Central Coast during the 2017/18 pre-season and has since made 31 appearances for the club. Golec was signed until the end of the current campaign and will now seek game time elsewhere. It’s understood he’ll link up with a rival A-league club. (VISION ONLY)

MARLINS BOOST AUSTRALIA’S WORLD CUP BID

Two Central Coast baseballers have helped Australia’s Under 18s side qualify for the upcoming World Cup. Marlins product Tristan Watts and coach Shaun Smith were part of the national team that won gold at the Oceania Championships in Guam over the weekend. The team will now face the world’s best in Korea in September.
