LEGENDARY BOXER TROY WATERS FAREWELLED

Central Coast boxer Troy Waters has been farewelled at a touching service in Green Point this afternoon. The 53-year-old tragically passed away earlier this month, after a four-year battle with leukaemia. Waters achieved plenty in the ring – challenging for the super welterweight title three times between 1989 and 1994. He was also inducted into the Australian Boxing Hall of Fame in 2009. He will be remembered as a legend of the sport.

CENTRAL COAST CYCLING CLUB HOSTS CYCLOCROSS EVENT

Central Coast Cycling Club ran its first Cyclocross event of the year, on Sunday at Matcham Valley Pony Club. Some of Australia’s best talent was in attendance, with the likes of Garry Millburn, Fiona Morris and Chris Aitken competing. Millburn took out the elite men’s race. Cyclocross is a combination of mountain and road biking, and obstacle racing. The Club has two other CX events set for July and August.

COAST TRIO NAMED IN OGRES BLUES

Three Central Coast players have been named in Mark O’Meley’s Under-18 Blues squad to take on Queensland at the MCG. Jaron Purcell, Tallis Angiana and flying winger Bradman Best will train at the New South Wales Rugby League Centre of Excellence at Sydney Olympic Park ahead of the match on June six.
