OKON RESIGNS FROM CENTRAL COAST MARINERS

Central Coast Mariners coach Paul Okon has resigned from the A-League club, effective immediately. It comes after the Mariners, who sit second last on the ladder, were defeated 5-2 by Melbourne Victory on Sunday. Okon’s assistant Ivan Jolic, has also left the club, with National Youth League head coach Wayne O’Sullivan appointed as caretaker coach.

MAN RECOVERING IN HOSPITAL AFTER PLANE CRASH

A man remains in a critical condition in hospital, after his light plane overshot an airstrip at Somersby and crashed. Emergency services were called to Lackersteens Road at around 4.30 yesterday afternoon, treating the 75-year-old at the scene before he was airlifted to Sydney. The Australian Transport Safety Bureau is investigating the incident. (no audio)

MOTORCYCLIST RECOVERING IN HOSPITAL AFTER FIERY CRASH

A man is recovering in hospital after a fiery crash yesterday afternoon on the Central Coast. Bystanders pulled the 31-year-old to safety after his motorbike crashed through a guardrail on Peats Ridge Road and caught fire just before 5pm. He was treated at the scene for a broken arm and facial injuries and airlifted to Sydney’s Westmead Hospital. (no audio)

ANOTHER RETURN AND EARN STATION INSTALLED ON CENTRAL COAST

Another Return and Earn station has been installed on the Central Coast. The new collection point is located at West Gosford Shopping Centre on Brisbane Water Drive. The New South Wales government’s container scheme has proved popular, with more than six million containers returned to the reverse vending machines on the Coast in the initiative’s first few months of operation.
