A Maitland man has been arrested after allegedly ramming a police car on the Pacific Highway, north of Taree overnight.
Police say they’d pulled over the motorist for dangerous driving – when he then accelerated into the back of the police vehicle before fleeing the scene.
“Some time later the vehicle was found abandoned in the Rainbow Flat area, an extensive search was carried out and a 26-year-old man was arrested and breath-tested, which proved positive.”
The man delivered an alcohol reading of 0.110 and was charged with a string of offences.
He was refused bail and will appear in court next month.
