SEVERAL ASSAULTED IN ALLEGED ALCOHOL-FUELLED ATTACK

A man is facing a string of offences, after several people including police officers, were assaulted in an alcohol-fuelled attack at Lake Macquarie.

Police say the 24-year-old left a licensed premises on Charlestown Road at Charlestown, when he allegedly began assaulting a man who was walking past the venue.

It’s alleged he then assaulted another man, before punching a 43-year-old driver in the head while he was stopped in traffic.

Several members of the public managed to apprehend the man until police arrived.

Officers had to use OC spray to subdue him, before he was taken to Belmont Police Station. He allegedly assaulted another officer there.

While none of the victims required medical treatment, police are urging them to come forward and make a statement.
