Police are investigating a break in at a Newcastle home where a $500,000 high performance car was stolen.
Sometime late Saturday night or early Sunday thieves entered the home of mining magnate Nathan Tinkler, in the seaside suburb of Merewether and stole wrist watches, lap top computers and a digital camera.
A 2010 black Ferrari California, believed to be one of five in Australia was also taken.
A family of four, asleep on the first floor of the home was not threatened or injured.
