A 67-year-old activist has been charged today after he was seen hanging from the Kooragang Rail Bridge, bringing the Port of Newcastle to a halt.
The man held a banner which read “Survival depends on non-compliance. Act your politics”.
Emergency services were called around 7am with an excavator used to retrieve the protester.
Two other men, aged 20 and 27, were also arrested and have since been charged.
