NEW ENGLAND COMMUNITIES TO SHARE IN $10 MILLION PEST CONTROL FUNDING

Drought-affected communities struggling with pests and weeds will now benefit from more than $2-million in control funding.

The Federal Government has allocated $10-million to be shared between three Local Government Areas across the New England.

Walcha, Glen Innes Severn and Armidale councils will use the money to deliver a wide range of projects.

Increased wild dog management measures, roadside weed control and farmland eradication schemes will be at the top of the list.

It’s hoped the funding will decrease the detrimental affects associated with pests during the drought.
