Newcastle Council has been fined $55,000 and ordered to pay $50,000 in legal costs, for water pollution at the Summerhill Waste Management Centre.
Newcastle Local Court found pollution in Wentworth Creek from discharged water at the facility was avoidable, through maintenance and management processes.
The offences occured in March, April and June last year.
