Ongoing warm and dry weather on the north coast has forced the Rural Fire Service
to bring forward restrictions in Coffs Harbour and Bellingen.
As of midnight Friday, people wishing to light a fire in the open will require a permit.
A large number of fires are continuing to burn across the region.
People are being urged to take precautions and have a bushfire survival plan.
