Hundreds of protesters gathered at Umina Beach today to send a peaceful but powerful message against offshore oil and gas exploration plans between Newcastle and Manly.
The ‘Hands Across the Sand’, organised by Save Our Coast, has been rallying against the project for more than a year.
If approved, 1000-square kilometres of seismic blasting would be conducted off the coast.
A global Hands Across the sand event is set for 18th May…the day of the federal election.
