Port Macquarie surfer Matt Banting has bowed out of the 10,000 point qualifying series event, the Hawaiian Pro, in the second round.
The 24-year-old struggled to produce a high scoring ride early, but managed a 4.3 and 6.3 in the dying stages.
He’ll need a massive result at the final event of the year to have any chance of reaching the 2019 championship tour.
