A Newcastle couple has snagged a sweet 50th wedding anniversary present, winning a $1-million prize in Lotto.
The pair, who wish to remain anonymous, say they can retire with the winnings, purchasing the lucky ticket at the newsXpress at Wallsend.
After learning of their million-dollar ticket, the woman called her husband – “Happy anniversary, darling!”
“This couldn’t have happened in a better month! It’s our 50th wedding anniversary!” the husband explained.
“We’ve worked for every penny we’ve earned. With this win, we can now retire!
“I can’t believe it. I’ll have to pinch myself!”
