He took out his Round 4 heat by half a point.
Fellow local Ryan Slattery also did enough to advance to the fifth round at Avoca Beach.
But not so lucky today for Kurtis Vaughan and Riley Laing, who were both knocked out of contention.
While Avoca’s Kirra-Belle Olsson will feature in the women’s quarterfinals.
