After recent uncertainty, fresh details have been released about the new Maitland hospital.
Hunter New England Health has confirmed work will start at the Metford site by the end of next year.
As for how it will be funded, the health district says the state is yet to decide whether the project will progress beyond the expressions of interest phase, for the public-private model.
That’s welcome news for Maitland MP Jenny Aitchison, who’s been vocal in her support for a PUBLIC hospital.
“The fact the public private partnership is still under negotiation, the government is very much making signs that they’re not locked in at this stage which is really pleasing,” said Ms Aitchison.
