- A man has been killed by a lightning strike at Mount Warning, near Murwillumbah. Another woman was injured during the early morning storm. The pair was part of a group camping on the summit.
- Police are searching the banks of the Macquarie River, south of Dubbo, for the remains of murdered woman Lateesha Nolan, who disappered in 2005. Her cousin Malcolm Naden was convicted of her murder.
- And Australia is geared up for a run-fest in the second one-dayer against New Zealand in Canberra.
