- A man has been killed and a woman injured by a lightning strike on Mount Warning, near Murwullimbah. The man died at the scene and a woman was treated for neck and head injuries. The pair was part of a group who had been camping on the summit.
- A major search is underway on the banks of the Macquarie River, south of Dubbo, for the remains of murdered woman Lateesha Nolan — after D-N-A confirmed a bone found in the area was hers. The 24-year-old disappeared in January 2005. Her cousin Malcolm Naden was convicted of her murder in 2012 after seven years on the run.
- 15 workers have been evacuated, after a large fire broke out inside a factory at Chester Hill in Sydney’s West.
- And Australia is geared up for a run-fest in the second one-dayer against New Zealand in Canberra.
