- We’ve been given our first look at the terrorists who blew themselves up at Istanbul airport, killing at least 41 people and injuring 239. Security is set to be strengthened at Australian airports following the deadly attack. Meantime in Melbourne, landmarks were lit up overnight in Turkey’s colours – red and white as a show of support.
- Two-time Olympic shooting gold medallist Michael Diamond has declared he’s “totally innocent” of drink-drinking and firearms charges and should be allowed to
compete at the Rio Games. He’s arguing his case to Olympic committee officials today, following his arrest at Shoal Bay in May. - Bill Shorten has picked up the pace on the final two days of the election campaign, with blitz today on Queensland marginal seats. And Malcolm Turnbull is today delivering the final formal address of his campaign, with a speech at the National Press club.
- And a rollercoaster turned into a real-life horror for a group of thrillseekers in the US state of Oklahoma. Eight people, mainly children, becoming trapped 25 metres above the ground when the ride stalled. It took rescuers an hour to safely reach the group.
