The New England Highway was closed for several hours this morning, following a crash near Glen Innes.
About 8.30 emergency services attended the site, 13 kilometres north of the town, following reports a school bus and car had collided.
Three students were taken to Glen Innes Hospital with minor injuries.
A male occupant of the car was airlifted to Tamworth Hospital with serious leg, foot and pelvic injuries.
While a woman who was trapped in the vehicle was also taken to hospital with a broken leg.
