NEWCASTLE MOURNS LOCAL IDENTITY DON MASKEY

The Newcastle community is mourning the loss of well-known businessman, Don Maskey.
From humble beginnings, Mr Maskey built a chain of butcher shops, and went on to become the state and national president of the Meat Retailers Council… later receiving an Order of Australia for his 40 year contribution to the industry.
As well as holding many voluntary positions, Mr Maskey was a long-serving president of Newcastle’s Tattersalls Club.
He’d suffered ill health over the past few years, and passed away at home… he was 78.
