Two boats have been destroyed by suspected arsonists in Ballina overnight.
Just after midnight, an aluminium boat was set alight in Norton Street.
Its owners are devastated by the damage, with the boat worth $30,000.
About half an hour later, another boat was targeted in an adjacent street.
This time a 16 foot wooden sailboat, which was reduced to a pile of ash in the front yard.
“Last night just woke up to a dog barking and we got up and looked out the window and it was on fire! All smoke and flames.”
Police believe the two incidents may be linked and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
