Newcastle Knights skipper Kurt Gidley says he and his family have been left shaken, after an alleged break-in at their Merewether home.
The father-of-two had just arrived home on Saturday night after dinner, when three teens allegedly entered his home.
Gidley chased the trio and managed to tackle one of the boys before police arrived.
That boy later returned to Gidley’s home with his father and apologised.
A 16-year-old has been charged and will face court on January 12.
More charges are expected to be laid.
