Police have identified human remains found in a shallow grave south of Newcastle, as that of Rutherford man Steven Quire.
The 33 year old’s body was found by bushwalkers in the Watagan Mountains, near Freemans Waterhole on Saturday.
Strike Force Beamish hopes someone will recognise Mr Quire, and be able to help officers with their inquiries.
His death is being treated as suspicious.
