Much of the Hunter and northern New South Wales are on flood alert, with the SES warning thousands of locals to prepare to isolate and emergency warnings for parts of Gunnedah and Raymond Terrace.
Major flooding is possible along the Hunter River at Denman and the Namoi at Gunnedah.
Smaller waterways have also swollen, with grave fears tonight for a 26-year-old woman who remains missing after being swept away in a flooded causeway near Cessnock, after more than 100 millimetres of rain fell overnight.
