A 17-year-old male accused of murdering his mother will be transferred to an adolescent mental health unit.
Police allege the teenager killed his mother in their Suffolk Park home on the far north coast last Wednesday, before fleeing to Port Macquarie in a stolen car.
He was arrested and charged a day later.
The youth didn’t appear at Lismore Children’s Court today and was formally refused bail.
The case is due back in court next month.
