A Japanese bulk carrier has been ordered to stay further out to sea after it strayed inside the 10-kilometre limit off the coast of Nambucca Heads.
Locals were concerned there may have been something wrong with the 88,000-tonne ship.
But a Maritime Services spokesperson says the vessel was ahead of schedule en route to Newcastle and was travelling slowly to conserve fuel.
