Maitland Council has approved development plans to transform the CBD.
Council last night voted to adopt the $15-million redevelopment, known as The Levee project, which includes a makeover for Heritage Mall along with a shared vehicle and pedestrian zone, and a better link between the CBD and the riverfront.
Council will apply to borrow $10 million to help fund the project, with work expected to start early next year.
