Karen Murphy’s blitzed the field, winning her third Ladies Black Douglas Single title, defeating Australian Open Singles Champion Lynsey Armitage 25-14 this afternoon.
Earlier, Murphy defeated Rebecca Quail 25-12 to advance to the finals.
Armitage had a narrow escape in her semi, beating good friend Beth Quinlan on the final end.
“Just snuck over the line by two so it was pretty exciting.”
$10,000 in prize money was on offer, but the prestigious event also acts as a showcase for rep teams.
“Most of the ladies are here and fighting for a spot in the national team for the World Championships later this year.”
That team will be announced in July.
