Merewether came from behind to roll minor premiers Maitland at Sportsground No. 2 on Saturday in the Hunter Rugby grand final qualifying clash. Leading at half-time, Maitland looked the better of the 2 teams but a resurgent Merewether overcame a slow start to play themselves back into the match with a try to Rhys Bray.

Sam Bright landed a penalty goal to put the Greens’ in the lead, winning 23-22.
