The Lismore based Friends of the Koala rescue group worked around the clock this weekend, with 7 koalas rescued in the space of 24 hours.
The spike is surprising for this time of year, and is causing volunteers great concern.
Friends of the Koala is urging anyone who sees a distressed koala, to report it by calling (02) 6622 1233.
