UNIONS RALLY FOR MAY DAY MARCH

Job losses in the Hunter’s struggling manufacturing industry were brought into the spotlight today, in a march through Hamilton for May Day.

Beaumont Street was blocked off while hundreds of union members took a stand, calling on the state and federal governments to protect local jobs and support workers.

“It’s all about the weekends, about the sick leave about the holidays, all those benefits that unions have fought for over the decades.”

It’s part of an international movement, dating back to the 1800s.
