The Jets defeated Melbourne Victory 2-1 yesterday at McDonald Jones Stadium in hot and windy conditions. Newcastle opened the scoring when awarded a penalty which was converted by Beka Mikeltadze in the 37th minute. Kosta Grozos scored the winning goal from a set piece in the 58th minute off a free kick from Mikeltadze. Jack Duncan put in an impressive performance with four saves, helping the Jets to their fifth unbeaten game in a row and climbing to seventh in the standings on 21 points. Victory were cheered on by a small but enthusiastic group of supporters.
