Commonwealth Games Federation president Louise Martin has praised organisers, saying awarding the 2018 event to the Gold Coast is one of the best decisions that could have been made.
Ms Martin visited several of the Games sites today including the games village at Southport Parklands and the Coomera Sports and Leisure Centre.
“The change in the area is phenomenal,” she said.
Ms Martin says organisers of the event are fully justifying the decision to award the games to a smaller, non-capital city.
