A 57-year-old woman and a 9-year-old boy are recovering in hospital, after they were rescued from the surf at Yamba yesterday.
Emergency services were called to Pippi Beach just before 5pm, following reports two swimmers had been caught in a rip.
Members of the public retrieved the pair and helped them back onto the beach.
Both patients were taken to Grafton Hospital.
