Taree’s Mayo Private Hospital turns 100

One of the Mid North Coast’s oldest hospital Taree’s Mayo Private has reached a major milestone, turning 100.

First started from an eight bed cottage on the corner of Manning and Wynter Streets in 1922…the hospital moved to its current site on Potoroo Drive in 1997.

It now has 79 beds, three theatres, a cath lab and mental health unit.

“its recognising all of the fantastic people, that have made the Mayo Private what it is today” Mayo Private Hospital CEO Deanne Portelli said.

“The community has been through so much in those 100 years… its amazing to be a part of that,” clincial services director Craig Johnston said.

The hospital confirmed there are also plans to expand in the coming years.
