Merewether surfer Philippa Anderson has fallen agonisingly short of a win, at her first World Qualifying Series event of the year.
Anderson dominated her rivals at the QS 1000 event in Sydney, cruising into the final against Western Australia’s Mikaela Greene.
But Anderson’s luck ran out in the small, choppy conditions, losing by 2.9 in the decider.
