FIRE SOUTH OF PORT MACQUARIE BEING CONTROLLED

The devastating Crestwood Drive fire south of Port Macquarie is currently being controlled, but strong winds continue to make things difficult for fire fighters.

It’s predicted the blaze has killed more than 350 genetically diverse koalas, but no homes have been destroyed.

A team from Port Macquarie Koala Hospital, along with emergency service workers, are now assessing some of the burn-out areas.

Those who see an injured koala are urged to contact the koala hospital.
