Up to 20 new surf breaks
could be created on the Gold Coast under a new plan.
The proponent says, more man-made waves would ease over-crowding and ‘surf rage’ incidents.
“Northern Beaches are perfect for artificial reefs, a mini seaway at Narrow Neck, a dome headland at Broadbeach, artificial reefs at North Burleigh.”
“You could give it a go, I know in New Zealand they’ve just to been artificial reefs and they just flopped hey, a big waste of money.”
He’ll submit his pitch to the Surf Management Plan Advisory Committee in February.
