The Corruption Watchdog has cleared Ballina Shire Council of any wrongdoing over its handling of the Optus Tower development at Lennox Head.
A community group lodged a complaint with the Independent Commission against Curruption, claiming council didn’t do enough to prevent the tower from being installed.
However council’s GM says it had no legal authority to stop Optus and has since written to the Federal Government asking for the Telecommunications act to be amended.
